We are expecting next Tuesday's mixer to be a fabulous event.  The delicious food is ordered and the who's who of the technology world in the Valley are signed up to mix and mingle.   If you haven't registered to attend yet, it's not too late.

Job Posting: Virginia Panel Corporation: Programmer/Business Analysis Consulting (Part-Time Position)

The purpose of this part-time consulting position is to assist the Information Technology team with developing Mapics (InforXA) based applications and reports to support the Manufacturing teams at Virginia Panel Corporation.

General Requirements 

  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • 5 years experience in business analysis and software development in ERP system.
  • Software development experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work with manufacturing personnel to document the process and requirements.
  • Experience with Microsoft productivity tools, Mapics (InforXA), and AS400 (iSeries).
  • Experience in RPG programming and web application development will be a plus.

Position Responsibilities     

Business Analysis:

  • Work with manufacturing teams to understand and document the business processes and requirements using productivity tools such as Microsoft Visio, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.

AS400/Mapics Programming:

  • Develop and document the design.
  • RPG programming based on requirements.
  • Mapics (Infor XA) development.
  • Support calls related to AS400/Mapics.

Web Programming:

  • Assist with troubleshooting and resolution of issues in current reports/applications.

Internship Opportunities: Cadence, Inc. 


Cadence, Inc. is seeking two individuals to fill Information Technology Internships for the fall semester 2011. These internships could potentially extend past the fall semester into the spring/summer (not guaranteed).


Internship Opportunity #1:

The selected individual will assist professional IT staff with providing computer hardware, software and technical support to various departments within the company. Under the direction of the IT Systems Analyst and the Information Systems Manager, the intern will be responsible for the following scope of work duties:

  • Supporting PC hardware components, networking technologies, desktop operating system software (MS Windows XP, Windows 7), and application software (MS Office, etc.)
  • Monitoring and responding to help desk support requests
  • Providing end user support in various levels of technical and non-technical staff
  • The right candidate might also assist in the Web page development, batch and/or automation projects, and software training and instructional documents, and other projects as needed
  • Candidate must have awareness of PC hardware components, desktop operating system software, MS Windowsserver technologies (Active Directory, SQL, Exchange), and application software such as MS Office. Knowledge of computer imaging technologies a plus.

Internship Opportunity #2:

The selected individual will be responsible for working with professional IT staff on several discrete company projects. Projects under consideration include intranet programming, re-writing in-house applications or writing new applications. Projects may also be tailored to the intern's particular skills and interests. Microsoft Server, Active Directory, VB.Net and t-SQL experience or classroom experience will be encouraged. Web programming experience is also encouraged.
